Abstract

Introduction: Internal evaluation as a systematic process for improvement of education or research is a necessity in universities. The aim of this study was investigation of status of internal evaluation in Departments of Basic Science in Mazandaran University of Medical Science. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Departments of Basic Science in Mazandaran University of Medical Science in 2015. At first, data was gathered by checklists and questionnaires which were based on eight standards. The results of this study were processed by use of descriptive tests by SPSS 16 software. Results: Results showed that a total of 100 points, school of medicine with a score of 56% , in a relatively good state, Faculty of Pharmacy with a score of 70%, in a relatively good state, school of Dentistry with a score of 48%, in disadvantage state, Nursing and Midwifery with a score of 59%, in a relatively good state, School of Public Health with a score of 64%, in a relatively good state, Faculty of paramedical with a score of 55%, in disadvantage state, were. Conclusion: By considering the total scores of internal evaluation conducted by the groups of schools, it is suggested that to improve the quality of education, all educational groups develop clear strategic objectives and action plan appropriate to the needs of their groups.
