Abstract

Introduction: water is the most valuable element of life on the earth. It is imperative for agriculture and industry sectors not to mention its role in household usages. Therefore, the users have the right to be informed about quality of such a critical product. The present study is aimed at surveying microbial pollutions in urban, rural and private water resources in Kermanshah Province (Iran) between 2010 and 2014. Methodology: The study was carried out as a descriptive and cross-sectional study in 2015. By referring to health and laboratory centers working in the field of water services in Kermanshah city, the recorded information about measuring microbial pollutions in urban and rural water facilities between 2010 and 2014 was collected in a specially designed form. Statistical analyses were performed in EXCEL and SPSS (16). Eventually the mean value of the results was compared with the standard According to the book, which is based on 1998 test standard microbiological methods M.P.N / 100 ml and membrane filter (Membrane filter) is conducted will be and the results were reported as desirable and undesirable. Results: The findings showed that microbial pollutions in urban water services remained almost unchanged and at very low level during the period under study. Moreover, microbial pollution trend in urban and rural water facilities has been descending from 2010 to 2004; so that 31.98% contaminated samples in 2010 in rural areas reduced to 22.36% in 2014. Maximum and minimum desirability of quality of water from microbial pollutions point of view were obtained in winter and summer respectively. Discussion and conclusion: Taking into account that quality and quantity of drinking water is a critical matter for the society, and since industrial and agricultural pollutions have become a more serious problem following the population growth, it is imperative to deal more seriously with this matter. Knowing that most of the breaches from the standards were observed in rural areas, taking measures to cut the microbial load in villages is of great importance. Special attention must be paid to improvement of water resources in an attempt to preserve microbial and chemical quality and to ensure health and wellbeing of the consumer. Providing proper educations for the personnel of water facilities on water chlorination, keeping the personnel under permanent supervision, and monitoring water chlorination process are essential in this regard. © 2016, International Journal of Pharmacy and Technology.
