Abstract

The World Health Organization classification of hematologic disorders takes into account specific chromosome aberrations and their molecular counterparts together with morphology, immune phenotype and clinical features; on this basis, distinct disease entities have been defined. The purpose of the present investigation is thus to inform the expression pattern of LATS2 (Large Tumor Suppressor 2) a new member of the LATS tumor suppressor family together with cytogenetic study and its clinicopathological implication for AML (Acute Mayeloid Leukemia) FAB classification, and to further understand its effect on patients outcome. Using quantitative real time PCR and cytogenetic treatment on peripheral blood specimen of AML patients and with control group. Almost the over expression of LATS2 mRNA levels were significantly increased in patients with AML in comparison with the control group were reported from this department previously. These results suggest that LATS2 and specific cytogenetic abnormalities, identified by classical G-banding, may play as a correlate with prognosis.
